100 Foot Wave

is the Emmy-winning HBO documentary series that chronicles the world of big-wave surfing. I filmed both the second and third seasons of the series, following Garrett McNamara, Nicole McNamara, CJ Macias, and several other key characters as they chased some of the most powerful swells on the planet. Filming took place across the globe, including Hawaii, Morocco, Portugal, Italy, and several other international locations. In November 2021, I joined the production in Nazaré, Portugal, where the rugged coastline and raw Atlantic conditions provided the perfect environment to capture the scale of the waves and the intensity of the big-wave surf community in its natural element. The series blends adrenaline-driven surf action with intimate, character-focused storytelling, documenting not only the pursuit of massive waves but also the physical, emotional, and personal toll of life at the edge of an extreme sport.
